A prominent Indian Baritone known for his rich, beautiful and robust voice, warm timbre and compelling stage presence.
Darwin Prakash is the recipient of the Queen's Commendation for Excellence Award at Royal Academy of Music and the Gus Christie Award at Glyndebourne Opera. He was recently elected as the Associate of Royal Academy of Music in recognition of his contribution to Western Classical Music and Opera and also is the past winner of National Mozart Competition in the UK.
He has just completed the successful run at Glyndebourne Opera singing the role of Schaunard in Floris Visser's production of Puccini's La boheme, marking his Role and House debut. He was the Principal baritone at Staatsoper Hannover until 2025, where he made a string of important role debuts such as Figaro in il Barbiere di Siviglia, Marcello in La Boheme, Papageno in Die Zauberflote, Conte Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro and premiered the roles of Chou Enlai in Nixon in China and Silvio in I Pagliacci. He has also performed at Longborough Festival Opera, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Royal Opera House Mumbai, London Handel Festival, Waterperry Opera Festival and Opera Holland Park.
He now looks forward to making his role debut as Guglielmo at ENO in February 2026.
